Last night, I attended Operation Smile's fundraiser in Manhattan. It is really a great organization that helps children around the world fixing cleft palates and is "Changing Lives One Smile at a Time." In the last photo, I'm standing next to Ciara.

'The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion' Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 4, 2009 in New York City. 

Talking about being jet-lagged. I literally stepped off the plane from London into hair and makeup, slipped into my dress to the Met and was on the red carpet. I had a fabulous time. All of my girls were there and I even chatted it up with Tyra - luv her! Kanye performed live and so did Rhiana.  I honestly felt like Cinderella at the ball. Big thanks to the lovely Naomi Campbell and thanks to all of my very beautiful fairy godmothers - Bethann (and godfathers too)!

I wore a Zac Posen gown, Diane Von Furstenberg shoes, vintage jewels and a cute Judith Leiber bag.

LATINA cover is a Hit!

First of all, you know I am extremely proud to have graced the cover of Latina magazine but to know that I could make the Afro-Latina community that much more proud is just amazing.

Then if you remember a while back, I posted some illustrations by artist, Samuel Canales from that shoot, which were just fabulous. He recently sent me this page from Latina magazine, which features all of the above! So very cool - I am so proud of him!

Over the past few months, I've been linked with Kanye West, Ryan Leslie, and Wendell Lissimore. I just want to publicly state that I have a lot of male friends and it doesn't mean that I am involved with any of them.

As a model I will take tons of photos, both editorial and informal with many people, -- it's just a photo. I am staying single in order to concentrate solely on my career.

Shooting Star from the March issue of VIBE magazine (page 50). Here's an excerpt:

If not for her idol, Sessilee Lopez might have skipped the 2004 open call that launched her modeling career. "I was like, 'Mom, we have to go!'" recalls the feline-eyed Dominican/African-American/Portuguese/Cuban 20-year-old, from a New York taxi, just minutes after jet-setting from a photo shoot in Denmark. Back then she would have done anything to get a glimpse of fashion hunk Tyson Beckford, who would be appearing at the tryout. Except the legendary male model had only big-brotherly praise and sweets for the smitten youngster. "He gives me candy," she says with a giggle.

This is Awesome!

Sess Appeal by Michael A. Gonzales

Celebrity journalist Michael A. Gonzales explores the life, loves and catwalks of 20-year-old supermodel Sessilee Lopez in the March issue of Latina magazine. Shot by David Roener, the fourteen page spread is Sessilee's first in-depth magazine interview. In the past, Gonzales has interviewed Lauryn Hill (The Source), Halle Berry (Savoy), Jennifer Lopez (Latina) and Erykah Badu (Essence).

Sessilee On Modeling:

"Modeling is such a competitive business," Lopez says. "Some girls get territorial; others get stressed out and start doing drugs to keep the weight off..."

Sessilee On Working with Tyra Banks:

"I was like a sponge when I worked with her," Lopez says. "She told me, 'You have to let the public as well as the fashion world know who you are.'"

Sessilee On being a Dominican model:

"Fashion is very black and white," she says. "It doesn't pay attention to heritage much. They don't see me as a Dominican girl. They just see the color of my skin. It can be hard, because it's your heritage and you want to be appreciated for it, but it's just modeling, so I don't let it get to me.
